4th Grade Technology Night

Last night, our students participated in Technology Night. This evening is designed for the students to showcase their work in a public forum. Students demonstrated how to use their laptops and the programs available. The kids presented their projects and taught their siblings and parents different aspects on the computers. It was a great night! Mrs. Umeck from the School Board was able to attend as well as Ms. Arlene Anderson. They were so impressed with how much the students are able to do. This is our 2nd year holding this event and we look forward to many more years!

Sharing of Ideas

What a great idea and day this has been! It was wonderful to hear and see everyone's ideas and projects that they are having their kids create. I'll be implementing some of the projects into my classroom, which I know the kids will love. Thanks for all the great ideas!

It's hard to believe that summer went so quickly! I enjoyed spending my time with my kids, but it is equally as nice to have adult conversation again. My students had the chance to work with the SWATTEC kids from last year for 30 minutes last Friday. We thought that having the 5th graders show the new 4th graders around would be a great success and it definately was! The kids learned a whole lot in a short amount of time and we'll see how much they remember as we begin integrating into the curriculum next week. They have already typed their first word document, a letter to their parents for Back to School Night tomorrow, They are going to take a picture of themselves and paste it into their letters. I am looking forward to seeing how well the kids do this year as they will have the entire school year to learn how to use the laptops!

Career Day!

Today, our school had our first ever "Career Day." It was awesome. The students in fourth, fifth, and sixth grade went to an assembly to listen to eight different professionals speak about their jobs. After the assembly, each student was given the opportunity to go to three different sessions to meet and learn about different professions. Please read about the students' sessions and what they learned. I think you will be very impressed with what they learned and some of the interesting jobs discussed today.

Kids are still excited about SWATTEC

My kids are still so excited about the laptops. They have improved so much in every aspect of using the laptops and have become very independent on their assignments. I am very proud of the progress they have made and continue to look forward to what they will be able to do over the next couple of months.
