Google and Common Sense Media have put together this great video about internet safety:

Sharing resources like this video with parents, kids, and other teachers can help to create opportunities to discuss these important issues. Internet safety, ethics, bullying, and digital citizenship should be a regular topic of discussion in every 21st century classroom.

If you have any great Internet safety resources to share, please post them here!

Internet safety has increasingly become a concern for parents.  For support and information parents can access Internet Safety help through iSafe ( http://www.isafe.org ).  iSafe is funded through a grant from the Department of Justice and private donations.

On the lower right hand side of the site is a link to the monthly iParent newsletter with information and tools to help parents guide their children safely on the Internet.

Parents who are interested can also take the Virtual training to increase their Internet knowledge.

This year I will be posting regular podcasts on Internet Safety.  These podcasts are based on information from i-Safe, the non-profit organization which Saugus School District has used to train teacher leaders on Internet Safety curriculum, and also brought information to several parent  groups at some of the Saugus schools.
Training will continue this year at all the sites and presentations to our parent groups will be made on request.
