David Lindsay : Home Page > Ideas and to do
Friends, feel free to add ideas or answer questions. Any help is appreciated
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Embed a calendar into the events page (start with SUSD cal possible?) Ok, foget the embedding. I'm just going to use the Zimbra calendar. Shared it with the grade lvl- that way we all can add dates, not just me. It's public viewable and the url is linked (now if only Zimbra would let me add appointments...hmm
Try to find a consistent way to link back from blogs to wiki (can banner be linked in the stylesheet?) ...added a clickable banner to my stylesheet...used firebug (a firefox plugin) to figure it out. I think most people would find it easier to just add a link somewhere on their sidebar.
Add links to curriculum standards under each area...done. I also did a little comparison of 5th and 6th grade standards since I'm doing a split. This was mainly to get my focus laser-tight on the differences that I need to plan for but I think my parents will appreciate that I appreciate those differences.
Podcast page for podcasts or tied to curriculum? So far, they've been in blogs but a library of 'em would be nice...I think putting these in context of class notes makes them more useful.
Help desk would be a static page for people to ask questions and get (not as timely as they'd like) answers. Maybe there's an Open Source whiteboard that could be configured for logged in users only...Still not too much going on here. I think I'll just put my phone-podcasting service player in there. I could call with important info- like if I noticed a problem with homework or something. Parents/students would have to know to look there first before calling me.
Separate page off of resources for educators for training resources...blah- Delicious links are good enough
Concatenate links from all over the place into the educator's resources page :yawn ...see above comment
Ask Jim why font size doesn't seem to work (browser issue?) and how the fullscreen edit works (no save on popup window) ...seems to be working now. Must hit "update" button. Now if I could only figure out why my Firefox doesn't seem to play Java-based apps despite having the plug-in.
Cool widgets... ...can't seem to get any widgets working. I don't think too many are supported by the implimentation so far. Still, maybe I'll link in some teachertube stuff and slideshares. I know at least those work from having tried it out with the blogs
Make a wii smartboard and see if someone has ported the software to mac yet...Done. Works well, but setting the remote up and calibrating it each day may be more trouble than it's worth.
Change everything over to 4th grade...done. But update the info for current class goals.
Change hierarchy of pages so that the built in nav bar is less jumbled.
