In room 32, we have used our SWATTEC laptops for various reasons.  I have a "Laptop Logistics Chief" that is responsible for passing out and collecting the laptops.  Students have used the laptops to practice math skills (TUX math) and typing skills (TUX typing).  We have also used open office software (Open Office Presentation) for students to create a slideshow on their biographies.  Students were able to give their presentation with it projectedon the front white board.

Students have also started the MyAccess on it and will continue.  They have typed a response to a designated prompt.  There was a minor gliche with work that had been completed in MyAccess and students will post their writing from MyAccess to the student community once we have peer edited and self edited.

We are off to a great start.  Parent conferences are well on their way.  Please try to be on time to your conference, as it is only 20 minutes long. Remember Thursday and Friday are minimum days, which gets dismissed at 12:26pm.

Don't forget to visit the book fair in room 10.  There are many great selections.  The money raised by this will go to help our library.

Fall break is October 8th-October 12th.  Enjoy your time off!  Also, scarecrow time is here again.  This year's theme is sports icons.  Our class "representative" scarecrow is baseball legend, Hank Aaron.  If you have any props you could donate or let us borrow, it would be appreciated!  We need various supplies like a frame for the scarecrow body, costumes, etc.  Our class scarecrow will be displayed during the fall family night.

Keep up all the hard work Room 32!
Love,
Miss Schnepp

Happy October!  We are well on our way to the end of October.  Our project right now is to get parent permission for students to blog on our district's student community.  Please make sure that if you want your child to participate in blogging, you return the sheet as soon as possible.  Without that sheet, you child will not be able to join in the wonderful learning experience blogging has to offer.

This week is also Red Ribbon Week.  We have been discussing the importance of being "Drug Free".  The students have created posters and have held discussions pertaining to this matter.

Have a great rest of October and I will post another message soon!

Love,
Miss Schnepp

Fall Break came by fast this year!  I hope that my students have a relaxing week off and are ready to work hard, again, until our next break!  If you are taking any vacations, be safe and let's hear all about it when you return!  See you on October 2nd!
Love,
Miss Schnepp

Happy September!  We are working hard through our curriculum.  We will be starting a new unit in social studies, which focuses on how people came to California and then discusses various tribes in California.  Students will be creating group projects that deal with a Native American Tribe.
Please remind your child to keep extra conversations out on the playground, as it is not conducive to our learning.   Keep up all the hard work, room 32!

Don't forget, parent conferences are in a week and a half.  Please understand that they are in twenty minute increments and it is important to stick to that schedule.

Have a great week!
Love,
Miss Schnepp
